Bio
Vanessa Cress Lokos is an award winning Burlington artist with a passion for contemporary figurative oil painting. Irony and the unexpected are often conveyed in her work. She is a member of the Ontario Society of Artists as well as several other art organizations. Having studied, exhibited and sold internationally, pieces can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada and abroad. Vanessa holds a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Ottawa and has been exhibiting regularly for over a decade.
 
Artist Statement
My art continues to be about observation and storytelling. Recently figures have appeared in my work, as I attempt to understand humanity and our current place in history. I primarily use traditional glaze oil painting techniques to create contemporary artwork. I am inspired by the ironic fleeting moments in everyday life, our relationships with each other and seeing the world from a unique perspective, both literally and figuratively. I invite the viewer to continue the stories for themselves.
