I am a self-taught Artist - drawing and painting most of my life.
An avid sailor, I love to paint boats, water, beaches and skies. I prefer painting on location –the windblown sand becomes a permanent part of my work.
Acrylics, watercolours and pen & ink are my chosen media and I am currently painting on wood panels –working with the grain of the wood.
Time spent living on a small island in the Caribbean has strongly influenced my subject matter and my palette. I was mesmerized by the blue, green, and turquoise waters, and the ever-changing skies. I captured what I saw in my daily life – living in the most beautiful place in the world. Some of my “island” paintings have been reproduced as limited edition giclee prints, and have sold in both the British Virgin Islands and Canada.
Over the years I have been a member of various local Art groups and have recently joined the Art Gallery of Burlington and Burlington Fine Arts Association. I have participated in exhibitions in the British Virgin Islands, Ireland and Canada, and have works in private collections in Canada, USA, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland and the Caribbean.
My husband (Paul Dias) and I also enjoy painting together on the same canvas.
Requiring great patience, we combine our individual energies to become a third artist. The result is a unique style, which is a special blend of abstract, impressionism and realism.
We have exhibited our individual and joint works at various venues around Oakville and Burlington. In 2012, we participated in the Urban Forest Painted Project. In 2016, we had a successful joint show at the Sovereign House in Bronte and more recently we participated in a juried exhibition at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre.
I look forward to participating in future exhibits and events with AGB and BFAA.
I paint the world I see - little snapshots of my life.
