ARTIST STATEMENT

“I love to paint and am very grateful that my life journey has gifted me with this experience of creativity.

Working in oil, all manner of subjects provide inspiration. Formulas will never work for me, hence the eclectic nature of my work: portraits, city or water ‘scapes’, wildlife and still life. I believe this also reflects my interest in the world around us and the energy I seek to bring to my art.  Commonplace objects or situations that resonate universal meaning and speak of the quality of connectedness draw me in. I am often motivated by either a humorous or a mysterious interpretation of the subject; certainly, there will always be a personal connection to the story or an investigation of the human experience in a face. Whatever the subject, I always look for that essential quality of light that draws the eye, radiates vitality and inspires awe.

May art be a life-long journey, striving to connect with the inspiring energy of our shared creative spirit.”
