Edith Houde

Edith Houde's interest in the arts started at a young age. As a young girl in Europe, she would sketch her friends and draw elaborate fashion designs with the wonder and imagination only children possess.
Later in life, she rediscovered her love of creative expression through paint. With life experience and this world of ours filled with such joy, wonder, and pain, she began a journey exploring the human condition. Her pieces ask us to look deeply into our own humanity through the images she paints for us on her canvas. Edith invites the viewer to take a step back from their own lives and enter the psyche of the work. She aims to challenge the emotional and quizzical nature in us all. Her work is often on display at McMaster Innovation Park, Art in the Workplace.

She works mostly in acrylic and oil/cold wax. However, her sense of curiosity and adventure will no doubt have her diving into other exciting mediums.
