Darcy Thompson
Darcy Thompson spent her childhood in Saskatchewan before moving to Alberta in 1991 and then Ontario in 1997. Childhood vacations were spent hiking on the trails of Saskatchewan’s provincial parks which developed her observational skills and her love for the natural world.
Quiet time in nature and many long car trips allowed her time to daydream and increase her observational skills. She began to record some of her observations on paper first, with pencil and charcoal when she was younger, and then painting as a young adult. She developed a passion for portraiture while still maintaining an enthusiasm for landscapes. She broadened her artistic skills at Sheridan College in Oakville earning her Visual Art Certificate through part-time studies while working full-time and raising a family with her partner.
Darcy received 2nd place in the Burlington Fine Arts Association’s juried exhibition “The Artist’s Mark” in January 2020 and received 1st place in the acrylic painting category of the Ontario Orchid Society’s Annual Show at the Royal Botanical Gardens in March 2020. She is a member of the Burlington Fine Arts Association and a member of the Colour and Form Society.
